Meningitis Update

🚨 Meningitis update 🚨

We understand recent news about cases in Kent may be worrying. The outbreak is linked to close contact (e.g. crowded settings/sharing items) and is not spreading like flu or COVID.

The strain is Meningitis B. Most children born after May 2015 will already be vaccinated against this. Teen vaccines protect against other types, but not Men B.

There is no change to NHS guidance, so we are not offering additional Men B vaccines outside the routine programme.

If you’re unsure about your or your child’s vaccinations, please contact the surgery (preferably via askMyGP).

If you think you may be in a higher-risk group, get in touch for advice.

Meningitis is rare, but please be aware of the symptoms. We will update you if anything changes.
